Yassin Amuji Foundation supports sports project to get children and teenagers out of the Hulene dump

There are just over a hundred children and teenagers who, under all risks, daily pick up garbage in search of self-sustenance.

It was looking at this drama that the Yassin Amuji Foundation, joined last Saturday (11), the initiative of the Associação Sonho e Esperança de Hulene, to launch a sports project that aims to prevent this social layer from finding it in the trash of Hulene, space to search for sustenance.

Of the teenagers, one third are girls, grouped into 10 teams that move the football championship.
What is intended is that they develop occupational activities that retract them from the dump.

As part of this football competition, lectures are held to raise awareness about the need to commit to studying and preventing deviant behaviour.

Through the project in partnership with the Association of Finalist University Students of Mozambique and the National Volunteer Council, the Yassin Amuji Foundation, offered sports material including game jerseys.

The act of handing over sports material to children and adolescents who are waste pickers, in Hulene, was attended by the President of the Yassin Amuji Foundation Ayrton Cassamo, Nalá da Graça, the organization’s delegate for the city of Maputo, and Abel Joshua, footballer and former international of the Mambas National Football Team.
