After Cyclone Freddy and torrential rains affected Vilankulo, the Yassin Amuji Foundation and the Al-Imdaad Foundation made available last Monday (March 6th) 720 drinking water storage containers for the affected communities. Approximately 3,600 people are expected to benefit from the use of these containers.
“We would like to thank these two friendly foundations from Vilankulo for the gesture, and advise people to avoid consuming still water at this time as it is contaminated with various bacteria that are harmful to health.” said Williamo Tunzine, Mayor of Vilankulo.
During delivery to the first 3 neighborhoods of Vilankulo, Merito Dalela, Delegate of the Yassin Amuji Foundation in Inhambane Province advised the population to boil tap water and keep it conserved for consumption in these containers to avoid consuming contaminated water.
In the coming days, the Yassin Amuji Foundation together with the Municipality of Vilankulo will finish distributing these containers to the remaining neighbourhoods.
